Mozart’s dramatic Piano Concerto No. 24 is presented alongside Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony, a joyful work of great originality. The program opens with the Concerto for Strings by Grażyna Bacewicz, one of Poland’s finest 20th century composers, a work that mixes neo-classical style with folk elements, showcasing the virtuosity of the strings.

Dvořák: Symphony No. 8 Op. 88, B. 163
Mozart’s lyrical Piano Concerto No. 17 stands at the center of a program bookended by contrasting works by two Czech composers. Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 draws on the joyful sounds of nature and Slavic folk music. Gideon Klein completed his deeply moving Partita in October 1944 in the Terezín concentration camp, shortly before he was killed.
