Ravel: Sonatine
Chopin: Barcarolle Op. 60
Chopin: Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52

This recital highlights the contrasts between the worlds of Beethoven and Chopin, Vienna and Paris. Two Beethoven sonatas, early and late, shed light on his artistic trajectory. Chopin’s Barcarolle and Fourth Ballade are beautiful, intricate, touching works representing his late style. Ravel’s Sonatine is a gem that emerges from Chopin’s sound world while presenting a new voice of a distinctive composer.
